Parenting Advice ForumBy Chris Theisen
|
Parenting forums are quickly becoming one of the most popular and convenient ways to learn about child discipline and all of the other issues that go along with being a parent. Parenting forums are, in a way, a lot like an online support group only its participants are anonymous and each member can participate from the comfort of his or her own home.
Seeking help for your challenging child or difficult teen is now only a few clicks (and a bit of typing) away. Find solutions to your child's tantrums, your teen's attitude problem, or even get advice about how to get on the same page as your spouse with regards to disciplining your child. There is really no limit to the questions you can ask or the advice you can give.
Parenting forums offer frustrated parents the encouragement and support that they need to become more effective and more educated in their role. It is often surprising how many times parents will find forum members that have experienced the same struggles and/or successes as they have, which translates to a perfect learning opportunity.
To find a parenting forum that appeals to you, simply search the internet using a phrase such as parenting forum, parenting message boards, or forums for parents. Any of these search phrases will lead you to a whole slew of forums. Find one that appeals to you.
Consider the following tips when choosing to join a forum:
Find one that has a lot of members.
The more members a forum has, the more potential advice you will receive.
Find one that has recent posts.
Recent posts means that the forum is active and that people have used it recently.
Find one that has topics which meet your needs.
There is no sense getting onto a parenting forum that deals with teens if you have a toddler.
Find one that appears respectable.
Read some of the posts and see if the advice is good. Don't join a forum that is filled with solicitors or with people that give non-helpful responses. Make sure there is a sense of respect between the members.
Bookmark your favorite forums (Save them as favorites).
This will help you remember which forums you have joined and will remind you to check for responses to the posts you have left.
Learn and follow the rules of the forum.
Failure to do so can get you kicked off besides, it's just not nice to break the rules!
Have fun leaving posts and giving advice. A lot can be learned by listening to the suggestions of those with experiences similar to yours.
